A ground floor utility area with toilet and shower room was dark and damp with no natural light and very little ventilation. My client wanted to install a small window in the utility area and an extractor in the shower to bring in much needed light and fresh air.
A hole was knocked through, taking care as there is never an easy way to tell if there are hidden cables or pipes in many of the older properties. Sure enough, a cable appeared which was duly re-routed out of harm’s way. The window was positioned and the stonework made good using a lime mortar. Since the window was quite small, an old piece of oak beam was used for a lintel over the window, very much in keeping with the rest of the house.
The window will look as if it’s always been there once pointed in.
